TMI's long-awaited basketball series officially commenced on 9th of February, essentially, a treat to the eyes for every sports fanatic present at the institute.
The match to kick start the basketball series was one between Cassim house and Master house. After an eternity of watching players sprint between the courts with the relentless thumps of the bouncing basketball, the conclusion was that Master house secured the first victory of the series, against Cassim house.
The match succeeding this one on the 10th of February, was between Morarjee house and Mudaliar house. The participants played in a spirited manner, making no bones about the fact that they were there to win and wouldn't back down without a proper fight. The victory for this one was secured by the men in red, who defeated their opponents with their intrepid play-style and hunger for victory.
The third match took place on the 13th of February, between Morarjee house and Master house, both teams craving the taste of an earned victory. The ensuing high-voltage match was an extravagant display of skill nurtured through practice. In conclusion, Master house defeated Morarjee, and moved on to the finals.
On the 14th of February, in a lollapalooza display of sportsman spirit, Cassim house defeated Mudaliar after an intense game that had the spectators screaming for more, cementing themselves as the team worthy of facing Master house in the finals.
And finally, on the 17th of February, the day was here. The men in green faced off against the men in gray in a game that would be the decider of the ultimate victors. From the moment of the ball getting tossed into the air, to the moment of the final whistle, the match did not fail to enthrall the spectators. The teams displayed awe-inspiring skill and eclectic gameplay, their cream-of-the-crop assortment of players captivating the audience with their perfect moves.
The finals ended with Master house emerging as the ultimate victor and claiming the coveted trophy, while Cdt. Naveen Nair of the same team became the fourth TMI blue holder for his exemplary performance in basketball, living up to his house's motto, "Once a master, always a master."
While the other teams were defeated at the sport, their spirits were only strengthened by what is for them a temporary setback. Tolani Maritime Institute will continue to witness the emotional rollercoaster of its beloved inter-house sports events for ages to come.
