The 'Ideation 2024' event, hosted by Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI), Induri Pune, took place on 25th September 2024 in the institute's auditorium. Organized under the leadership of the "Research and Consultancy TMI" department, headed by Dr. Sagar Mane-deshmukh, the event provided a platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas, with the event coordination handled by Dr. Ajaj Attar. 'Ideation 2024' was to encourage students to present solutions and creative concepts that can positively impact the maritime industry. The event drew widespread participation, with 24 ideas submitted by students from various batches. Out of these, 10 ideas were shortlisted for presentation before an esteemed panel of judges. The event commenced at 2:30 PM, with the presence of distinguished chief guests and judges. Mr. Nitin Juneja, an alumnus of TMI and a successful entrepreneur, and Dr. Sandeep Patil, Principal of BVCOEWOMEN, Pune, graced the occasion as chief guests. The panel of judges comprised respected figures in the maritime industry, including Mr. Shailendra Kumar, VP of Marine Engineering, Cmdr. Bhaskar Walimbe from TMI, and Capt. Rajkumar Goel from TMI. The event was inaugurated with a brief introduction to the significance of ideation and innovation in the maritime field, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Sanjeet Kanungo, Principal of TMI. During the event, the students who were shortlisted presented their ideas with great enthusiasm and detail. The highlight of the event was the announcement of the top three winning ideas. The first prize was awarded to Cdt. Sarthak Naik and Atharva Shrivastava for their project "Smoke Guard," a concept that aims to replace conventional ship alarms with an advanced programmable and accurate system, reducing false alarms. The second prize went to Cdt. Shivam Kumar for his idea, "Seascape," and the third prize was awarded to Cdt. Abinav Kumar and Ashish Anand for their project "Campus Circles." Each of the winners received cash prizes and certificates of appreciation for their contributions. The event concluded at 4:30 PM, after which the chief guests and judges congratulated all the participants for their innovative thinking and encouraged them to continue pushing the boundaries of maritime technology. Dr. Sagar Mane-deshmukh and Dr. Ajaj Attar thanked the guests, participants, and the organizing committee for their contributions in making 'Ideation 2024' a resounding success. The event underscored the importance of creativity and problem-solving skills in the maritime industry and left students feeling motivated to further develop their ideas.
